            OUR MISSION                     

UCP-SARnet should promote community leadership that is mindful of cultural diversity and welcomes the opportunity that this diversity brings.

UCP-SARnet should disseminate knowledge about the impact of cultural context on the organization of community programs, and instill global perspectives on local community issues.

UCP-SARnet should become a resource of visions, ideas, and solutions for community practitioners, faculty members, and students worldwide.

UCP-SARnet should encourage engagement of universities with local communities and facilitate development of new participatory research projects that compel concrete social action. 

UCP-SARnet should become a model for using informational technology in facilitating multicultural dialogue and collaboration on community issues.

As an individual member,    or a member representing community organization, you agree to:

  • Post on your Personal Profile information about your educational background, research interests, and community involvement to allow networking with other members.

  • Post on relevant folders information about your action research projects, community organization programs, community related courses, and links to any other materials you believe are important for fulfilling UCP-SARnet’s mission.

  • Accept IGLOO legal policies .

 

OUR ACTION PLAN

To develop knowledge partnerships with other global networks and international community organizations. 

To invite membership and participation of community leaders, community professionals, university faculty, and students worldwide.

To encourage active involvement of each member of UCP-SARnet in network development by creating interest groups, active networking, and publicizing for network's mission.

To create an index that allows locating of UCP-SARnet members: university-community partnerships, community organizations and programs, community professionals, researchers involved in community action research, university teachers and students.

To give visibility to community organizations and programs in remote parts of the world.

To index video materials available on the Internet, to share new perspectives, solutions, and visions.

To develop an interactive web platform allowing exchange of information, collaboration on new community and action research and community projects.

To feature conferences related to local and global community issues and to provide forums for follow-up discussions and collaboration.  

To encourage use of UCP-SARnet by students and faculty as a vehicle for teaching community related courses.

To offer for community related online courses and workshops.

To provide space for publication of students' projects, especially those that focus on the impact of cultural context on community action.

To inspire involvement in community by providing examples of exceptional individual and organizational commitments.

To evaluate the impact of UCP-SARnet using participatory action research methodology.
